A woman in her 60s was killed in a head-on collision caused by a suspected DUI driver on Marguerite Parkway in Mission Viejo early Wednesday morning, January 1, 2025.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department reported that the crash occurred around 1:40 a.m. near Pueblonuevo Drive.
A Chevrolet Malibu, allegedly driven by 26-year-old Geraldine P., was traveling the wrong way in the southbound lanes of Marguerite Parkway when it collided head-on with a Toyota Camry.
The driver of the Camry was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver and a passenger in the Malibu were also transported to a hospital with injuries. She was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter and booked into the Orange County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
