A 33-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle on Interstate Route 5 North near Birmingham Drive in Cardiff by the Sea, San Diego County, on Wednesday night, January 1, 2025.
According to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol, multiple 911 calls were received reporting a man walking across Interstate Route 5 North just south of Birmingham Drive.
Later that night, a Toyota sedan transitioning toward the Birmingham Drive off-ramp struck the pedestrian as he was walking on the highway.
Emergency personnel, including law enforcement and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene. Responding paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene due to trauma.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
