[01-01-2025] Pedestrian in Critical Condition After Being Struck by Vehicle on Third Avenue in Chula VistaA pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a black Chevrolet Silverado on Third Avenue in Chula Vista on New Year’s night, January 1, 2025.

According to the Chula Vista Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. in the 1400 block of Third Avenue. 

Officers were flagged down by witnesses and discovered the pedestrian unconscious but breathing. First responders, including police and fire department personnel, administered lifesaving measures before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital.

The driver and occupants of the Silverado remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Initial investigations suggest that alcohol or drug impairment is not suspected as a factor in the collision.

The pedestrian’s identity has not been released, and the victim remains in critical condition.

The Chula Vista Police Department’s Traffic Bureau is investigating the cause of the collision.
