A 29-year-old pregnant woman from Gilroy was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Leavesley Road near New Avenue in Gilroy on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:37 p.m. when 50-year-old Jesus T. of Mountain View, driving a 2008 GMC truck eastbound at high speed, veered into the westbound lane. The GMC collided head-on with a 2021 Chevrolet SUV before continuing and struck a 2020 Honda sedan.
The pregnant woman, a passenger in the Chevrolet SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The GMC driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. CHP stated that alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.
