[01-02-2026] Kern County, CA – Three-Vehicle Head-On Crash Causes Minor Injuries on Highway 46 Near Wasco

Minor injuries were reported following a head-on crash involving three vehicles on Highway 46 just east of Smith Avenue in Wasco on Friday afternoon, January 2, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was reported around 3:12 p.m. on Highway 46 east of Smith Avenue. 

CHP said three vehicles were involved in the crash, though the cause was not immediately known. Video from the scene showed vehicles with major damage that came to rest in a roadside ditch.

Emergency crews responded and remained on scene as the area was impacted by the collision. Authorities advised motorists to avoid the area if possible.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
