An 86-year-old man was fatally injured in a suspected DUI crash in Stockton early Sunday morning, January 5, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just after 2:00 a.m. on Interstate 5 near Turner Road.
A 29-year-old driver in a 2012 Toyota Camry was traveling southbound in the #2 lane at a high rate of speed when he struck a 2003 Honda Civic from behind.
The impact caused the Civic, driven by the 86-year-old man, to veer off the roadway and overturn down an embankment, eventually resting on its roof. The Camry spun and came to a stop in the #2 lane and the west shoulder of the freeway.
First responders provided aid at the scene, but the Civic driver was pronounced dead on-site. The driver of the Camry was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, CHP reported.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing. Further details have not been released.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
