A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a motorist in North San Jose on Monday night, January 6, 2025.
According to the San Jose Police Department, the collision occurred at approximately 10:33 p.m. on Berryessa Road near Sierra Road.
Authorities reported that a man driving a silver 2001 Toyota SUV eastbound on Berryessa Road entered the intersection on a green light and struck a man who was walking across the street.
The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver remained at the scene and was neither arrested nor cited.
Police noted that the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk, though state law permits street crossings where deemed safe.
The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
The San Jose Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit is actively investigating the crash.
