A 17-year-old boy riding a sports bike sustained major injuries after rear-ending an SUV on eastbound Interstate 80 near the Greenback Lane exit in Sacramento County, on Thursday evening, January 9, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at approximately 5:41 p.m. CHP officers responded to the scene and confirmed that the teenager was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the SUV was also taken to the hospital for a complaint of pain.
Eastbound lanes of I-80 were completely blocked while emergency crews responded to the incident.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
