A two-vehicle crash on Highway 49 near Mokelumne Hill in Calaveras County caused traffic delays on Friday morning, January 9, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 11:30 a.m. near the Highway 26 intersection.
A Toyota minivan collided with another unidentified vehicle, causing one of the vehicles to flip onto its side. Emergency responders, including an ambulance, were dispatched to the scene, though no information regarding injuries was immediately available. Officers were on site directing traffic, and motorists were advised to avoid the area.
At 12:50 p.m., CHP reported minor injuries from the crash. By 1:54 p.m., the wreckage had been cleared, and traffic was moving freely again on Highways 49 and 26.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
