Three teenagers were killed, and two others sustained serious injuries following a head-on collision in Gilroy on Tuesday evening, January 14, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 6:55 p.m. on Shore Road, west of Lake Road.
A vehicle traveling westbound lost control and veered into oncoming traffic, striking an eastbound car head-on.
The driver and two rear passengers of the westbound vehicle, identified as two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old, were pronounced dead at the scene. The front-seat passenger, an 18-year-old, sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital.
The driver of the eastbound vehicle, a woman in her mid-20s, also suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash and have not determined if drugs or alcohol were factors.
