Four people were injured Sunday evening following a multi-vehicle crash that temporarily closed Highway 154 near Lakeview Drive in Santa Barbara County on January 18, 2026.
Just before 6:00 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, and American Medical Response were dispatched to the crash location near Lakeview Drive, close to the entrance of Camp Whittier.
Firefighters reported that one person had to be extricated from the wreckage. Emergency dispatch traffic indicated that one individual suffered critical injuries, two others sustained moderate injuries, and a fourth person had minor injuries. The collision reportedly involved four to five vehicles.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 154 were closed while emergency crews worked at the scene. The roadway was fully reopened by approximately 7:30 p.m.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
