An elderly couple was sent to a hospital after being struck by a suspected DUI driver while crossing the street in southeast Fresno on Wednesday evening, January 22, 2025.
According to the Fresno Police Department, the crash occurred around 5:50 p.m. at the intersection of Chestnut and Hamilton Avenues. A woman in her 90s and a man in his 80s were reportedly crossing the street when they were struck by a van.
Emergency responders transported both victims to a local hospital. The man sustained minor injuries, while the woman remains in critical condition.
The driver, identified as M. Gaytan, was arrested at the scene and booked on felony DUI charges.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
