Three people were killed in a fiery head-on crash involving a Tesla and a silver Cadillac in Phelan, San Bernardino County, early Friday morning, January 23, 2026.
The collision was reported at approximately 6:53 a.m. on State Route 18 near the intersection of Shandin Road.
Both vehicles became fully engulfed in flames upon impact. San Bernardino County Fire personnel initially reported two fatalities, but the number was later updated to three confirmed deaths.
California Highway Patrol officers at the scene stated that two people inside the Tesla and one person from the Cadillac were pronounced dead. The identities of the deceased will be released once next of kin have been notified.
Preliminary information indicates that the silver Cadillac was traveling eastbound on SR-18, attempting to pass another vehicle, when it crossed into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the Tesla.
The San Bernardino County Coroner was requested to respond, and multiple tow trucks assisted with vehicle removal.
The investigation is ongoing.
