A driver escaped with relatively minor injuries after their car became lodged underneath a big rig trailer in San Joaquin County on Friday morning, January 23, 2026.
The crash occurred around 7:00 a.m. near Koster and Vernalis roads, southeast of Tracy.
South San Joaquin County Fire Authority crews responded to the scene and found a Toyota Prius stuck under a semi-truck trailer. Firefighters entered extrication mode and freed the driver within 10 minutes.
Rescuers reported that the driver’s injuries were not life-threatening, but the individual was still taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. First responders noted that dense fog was present in the area at the time of the incident.
