[01-24-2026] Trinity County, CA – Four Killed, Two Seriously Injured After Head-On Crash on Highway 299 Near Del Loma

Four people were killed, and two others suffered serious injuries in a head-on crash on Highway 299 near Del Loma in Trinity County on Saturday evening, January 24, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 6:50 p.m. when a white Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling westbound crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a red Chevrolet Impala. 

Authorities said five people were inside the Chevrolet. Four occupants of the Impala were pronounced dead at the scene, while the fifth person was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries. The driver of the Jeep also sustained serious injuries.

CHP stated that alcohol is being considered as a possible factor in the crash. The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office is handling the coroner’s investigation, while the CHP continues to investigate the collision.
