[01-26-2026] San Diego County, CA – Vista Man Arrested After DUI Crash Spree Injures Two People

A Vista man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after authorities said he went on a crash spree that damaged multiple vehicles and injured at least two people in Vista on Monday evening, January 26, 2026.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident began around 7:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Oak Drive, where the driver struck a parked vehicle inside an apartment complex, destroyed a steel gate, and fled the scene. 

Investigators said the driver then hit two additional parked vehicles before crashing into a fire hydrant, rupturing it. The suspect continued driving onto Foothill Drive, at times traveling on the wrong side of the road, forcing oncoming vehicles to swerve.

Deputies said the driver sideswiped another vehicle and attempted to pass traffic over a double yellow line, leading to a head-on collision. 

Authorities reported the driver attempted to flee by reversing and ramming the victim’s vehicle, causing injuries that were later treated at the scene. Moments later, the suspect struck a minivan head-on, causing major damage and minor injuries to the driver.

The crash spree ended in the 1600 block of Foothill Drive when the driver lost control of a pickup truck and crashed into a power pole. 

The driver, identified as 32-year-old Isaias M., was evaluated by deputies, arrested on suspicion of DUI, and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.

The Vista Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the incident.
