[01-27-2026] Fresno County, CA – 20-Year-Old Scooter Rider Hospitalized After Being Struck by Vehicle Near Maple and Shaw

A 20-year-old man was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while riding a motorized scooter near Maple and Shaw in Fresno on Tuesday evening, January 27, 2026.

According to police, the crash occurred around 6:00 p.m. near Fresno State as the man was riding his scooter in the bike lane. 

Officers said the rider sustained significant facial injuries and was unconscious when they arrived at the scene. His condition at the time of the report was not known.

Police indicated that the scooter rider may have been at fault, though the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
