[01-28-2026] Placer County, CA – Two Killed After Single-Vehicle Crash on I-80 in Weimar

Two people were killed following a single-vehicle crash on the westbound Interstate 80 in Weimar, Placer County, on Wednesday afternoon, January 28, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 2:30 p.m. on I-80 east of Weimar Cross Road. 

Investigators reported that the vehicle left the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and crashed into a tree.

CHP officials stated that a man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene. They were the only occupants of the vehicle.

The right lane of westbound Interstate 80 was closed following the crash and later reopened at approximately 5:00 p.m.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
