A 2-week-old baby was reported unresponsive following a two-vehicle crash in Valle Vista, an unincorporated area near Hemet, on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 5:15 p.m. near the intersection of New Chicago Avenue and State Route 74.
CHP officials stated that a woman in one of the vehicles was holding an unrestrained newborn who was not waking up following the crash. It was not immediately clear whether the baby was transported to a hospital.
Authorities said it was unknown whether any other individuals were injured in the collision.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
