A 77-year-old man was fatally struck in a hit-and-run crash while walking in a marked crosswalk at Grand Avenue and Park View Terrace in Oakland on Monday evening, February 3, 2025.
According to authorities, the victim, identified as Michael B., was crossing the intersection around 7:10 p.m. when a dark-colored SUV traveling westbound on Grand Avenue struck him. The impact sent him approximately 75 feet before he landed on the ground.
Emergency responders treated the pedestrian at the scene for multiple injuries, including skull fractures, before transporting him to a hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after 8:00 p.m.
The driver of the SUV fled the scene, and police are actively searching for the suspect. There is no detailed description of the vehicle or driver at this time.
