[02-16-2025] Motorcyclist Killed, Passenger Injured in Highway 99 CrashA 49-year-old motorcyclist was killed, and a passenger sustained serious injuries after a crash on Highway 99 in Merced County, early Sunday morning, February 16, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after midnight when the rider collided with the center median barrier while traveling northbound on Highway 99, south of Mission Avenue.

Emergency personnel pronounced the rider dead at the scene, while the passenger was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.

Authorities confirmed that both individuals were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and officials have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
