A woman was killed and another critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in Sonoma Valley, Sonoma County, on Tuesday evening, February 17, 2026.
According to the Sonoma Police Department, the incident was reported shortly before 7:00 p.m. in the 600 block of Broadway.
The 73-year-old woman was declared dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts. A second pedestrian, a 74-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a regional trauma hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition.
The women, believed to be part of a group visiting from out of town, were crossing between Napa and South MacArthur streets but were not in a crosswalk, police said. Their spouses, walking behind them, were unharmed.
The driver, who remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, was traveling northbound when the vehicle struck the pedestrians. Authorities stated that speeding, drugs, and alcohol do not appear to have contributed to the accident.
Anyone with information or footage of the incident is urged to contact the Sonoma Police Department at (707) 996-3602.
The investigation is ongoing.
What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
