[02-21-2026] San Diego County, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in San Marcos

A man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in San Marcos on Saturday night, February 21, 2026.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at 8:34 p.m. to the 100 block of North Pacific Street, where they found a pedestrian who was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Witnesses reported that the suspect, described as a Hispanic man, fled on foot toward Mission Avenue after the collision, leaving behind a white 2022 Hyundai Venue SUV, authorities said.

Authorities said the victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family members.
