A crash temporarily closed three lanes of northbound Interstate 5 near the Interstate 8 interchange in central San Diego on Monday morning, February 23, 2026.
According to Caltrans, the left three northbound lanes were shut down shortly before 7:30 a.m., leading to traffic delays that stretched several miles, nearly reaching Bankers Hill. No details about injuries were immediately available.
By approximately 8:10 a.m., Caltrans reported that all lanes had reopened.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
