A 25-year-old man from Mentone was killed, and 20-year-old Jocelyn M. of San Dimas sustained major injuries after a crash on Skyway Road in Magalia, Butte County, just before midnight on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol in Chico, the incident occurred when a 2007 Lexus IS-350 veered off Skyway, just north of Rosewood Drive, and crashed into a tree, causing the vehicle to split in half.
Both the male driver and Jocelyn M. were ejected from the vehicle, as neither was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while Jocelyn M. was transported to Enloe Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
The cause of the crash, including the potential involvement of alcohol or distracted driving, remains under investigation.
