One person was injured after a hit-and-run crash involving a suspected DUI driver in Petaluma on Saturday morning, March 1, 2025.
According to the Petaluma Police Department, officers and emergency personnel responded shortly after 9:00 a.m. to a crash near West Payran Street and Graylawn Avenue, east of Petaluma Boulevard North.
Upon arrival, first responders found one driver still inside his vehicle, requiring medical attention. He was transported by ambulance to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, authorities learned that the other driver involved had fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Witnesses later alerted officers to a man matching the suspect’s description walking nearby. Police detained 31-year-old Sonny O. of Santa Rosa and determined that he was the registered owner of the suspect vehicle. His car was later found parked in the driveway of a nearby residence that did not belong to him.
Following an investigation, Sonny O. was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury, hit-and-run causing injury, and threatening an officer.
The incident remains under investigation.
