[03-01-2026] San Diego County, CA – Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Mission Bay Park Area

A man was fatally struck in a hit-and-run crash in the Mission Bay Park community of San Diego early Sunday morning, March 1, 2026.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the initial collision occurred at about 2:20 a.m. in the area of West Mission Bay and Sea World drives. 

The pedestrian was in the southbound lanes of the 2000 block of West Mission Bay Drive when he was hit by a silver vehicle traveling southbound. The driver fled the scene.

Police said a second vehicle, driven by a 28-year-old man traveling southbound, subsequently ran over the pedestrian. That driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Authorities stated that the second driver was not suspected of driving under the influence.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the initial crash to contact Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. 

The incident remains under investigation.
