[03-03-2025] Woman Injured After Suspected DUI Driver in Stolen Van Causes Crash in Yucca ValleyA woman was hospitalized after an allegedly intoxicated driver in a stolen vehicle caused a multi-vehicle collision in Yucca Valley, San Bernardino County, on Monday afternoon, March 3, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Twentynine Palms Highway near Yucca Mesa Road.

Authorities stated that 46-year-old Patrick W. of Yucca Valley was driving a Chrysler van westbound when he failed to slow for stopped traffic, colliding into a Ford F150, which was then pushed into a Ram 1500.

The driver of the Ford, a woman from Twentynine Palms, was transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center for evaluation of her injuries.

Patrick W., who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained severe injuries and was also taken to the hospital. CHP confirmed that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.

Investigators determined that the Chrysler van had been reported stolen on February 11 and had been hastily repainted black.

Patrick W. was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including DUI causing bodily injury, possession of a stolen vehicle, and driving without a license. He is currently being held at the West Valley Detention Center without bail.

Authorities remind motorists to always wear seatbelts and drive responsibly. The investigation is ongoing.
