A crash involving seven vehicles blocked multiple lanes on southbound Interstate 5 near Carlsbad on Tuesday morning, March 3, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 11:40 a.m. just north of Cannon Road.
Authorities said the right lanes were blocked, and the closure was expected to last about an hour as officers investigated the crash.
Traffic on southbound I-5 was heavily congested from State Route 78 to Cannon Road during the closure.
