A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a BMW sedan on University Avenue in Riverside on Wednesday morning, March 11, 2026.
According to the Riverside Police Department, the incident occurred just before 8 a.m. when the victim attempted to cross University Avenue, just west of Victoria Avenue, in an area without a crosswalk.
Investigators said the pedestrian stepped off the sidewalk into the westbound lanes as a 2011 BMW sedan approached at an unconfirmed speed. The driver was unable to stop or avoid the victim and struck him. The motorist, who was uninjured, remained at the scene and waited for first responders.
Paramedics arrived shortly after and found the victim unconscious with severe injuries. He was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver was questioned by police and determined not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He was not arrested.
