A 56-year-old bicyclist sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle near Moorpark on Wednesday morning, March 12, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 7:00 a.m. in the 15000 block of Tierra Rejada Road, just east of the northbound Highway 23 off-ramp.
Authorities reported that the driver of a Nissan Altima was traveling westbound when he slowed into the center median to turn left into a golf driving range parking lot. The driver allegedly did not see the cyclist and collided with him while making the turn.
The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet or reflective gear, and his bicycle lacked lights. The driver stopped, dialed 911, and remained at the scene.
The injured cyclist remained conscious but appeared disoriented. He was transported to a local hospital with head trauma.
CHP officers stated that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
