A driver was killed after their stalled car was struck by a distracted driver in Redwood City on Friday night, March 14, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 11:23 p.m. when a red sedan, which had run out of gas, was stopped in the third lane on Highway 92. A white sedan, whose driver was reportedly on their phone, crashed into the rear of the red sedan.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced the red sedan’s driver dead. The driver of the white sedan sustained hand injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
All lanes of Highway 92 were closed until 2:30 a.m. on Saturday as authorities investigated the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
