[03-14-2026] Kern County, CA – Two Men Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 46 East of Lost Hills

Two men were killed in a head-on collision on Highway 46 east of Lost Hills in Kern County, early Saturday morning, March 14, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at about 2:30 a.m. when a 20-year-old man from Wasco, driving a 2011 Toyota Corolla, was traveling eastbound on State Route 46 east of Corcoran Road.

At the same time, a 30-year-old man from Paso Robles was driving a 2024 Toyota Prius westbound on the same highway.

Investigators reported that, for reasons still under investigation, the Toyota Corolla crossed over the painted center dividing lines into the westbound lane and continued traveling in that lane until it collided head-on with the Prius. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP officials said the investigation is ongoing, and it has not yet been determined whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
