[03-16-2026] San Bernardino County, CA – Two Killed in Collision Involving Semi Truck and Passenger Vehicle on SR-18 in Lucerne Valley

Two people were killed in a collision involving a Robertson’s Transport semi truck and a Mercury Grand Marquis in Lucerne Valley, San Bernardino County, on Monday morning, March 16, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 9:32 a.m. on State Route 18 east of Meridian Road. 

The collision involved a red Robertson’s Transport semi truck pulling a tanker trailer and a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis. A third vehicle, a Jeep, was also involved in the investigation but did not make contact with the other two vehicles. 

The Mercury Grand Marquis sustained severe damage, especially to the passenger side, with the roof crushed as it became wedged beneath the front portion of the semi truck. The sedan came to rest off the roadway in the dirt shoulder and desert brush.

The Robertson’s Transport semi truck sustained visible damage to the front driver-side portion of the cab and remained partially on the roadway with the tanker trailer extending along the shoulder. 

Authorities later confirmed that the two occupants of the Mercury Grand Marquis were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the deceased have not been released. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by CHP’s Victorville station.
