A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in southeast Bakersfield on Saturday night, March 21, 2026.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded around 9:31 p.m. to the 1100 block of Pacheco Road. Upon arrival, they found a man lying in the roadway, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined the vehicle was traveling westbound on Pacheco Road when it struck the pedestrian near the intersection of Olivia Street.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police stated that speed and impairment do not appear to have been factors in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
