A man identified as Shane W., 34, was fatally struck by multiple vehicles while attempting to cross Business 80 in Sacramento on Monday night, March 24, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 10:50 p.m. when the man ran across the southbound lanes of Business 80 just north of X Street. He was initially struck by an unknown vehicle, which fled the scene. It is believed that the pedestrian died as a result of injuries sustained in the first impact.
After the initial collision, the man was subsequently struck by four additional vehicles. The drivers of those vehicles reportedly had no time to avoid the collision and remained at the scene to cooperate with law enforcement.
An investigation into the hit-and-run and subsequent collisions is currently ongoing.
