Multiple big rigs spun out, causing temporary closures on westbound Interstate 80 near the Nevada State Line in Truckee, Nevada County, on Monday afternoon, March 31, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol traffic logs, the incident occurred near the Central Truckee off-ramp at approximately 4:26 p.m.
Traffic was completely stopped on westbound I-80, as seen on a Caltrans camera in Truckee.
Caltrans reported that chains are required on all vehicles except four-wheel-drive vehicles with snow tires between the Nevada State Line and Nyack in Placer County in both directions.
The roadway has since reopened, but drivers are advised to proceed with caution due to icy conditions.
No injuries have been reported at this time. An investigation into the cause of the spinouts is ongoing.
