[03-31-2025] Pedestrian Critically Injured In Crash At Highway 1 And River StreetA pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Highway 1 and River Street in Santa Cruz on Monday night, March 31, 2025.

According to the Santa Cruz Police Department, the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. when a northbound vehicle on Highway 1 collided with a pedestrian crossing the roadway. Initial investigations indicate that the pedestrian might have been attempting to cross against a red light.

Emergency responders administered life-saving measures before transporting the injured individual to Dominican Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were later transferred to a trauma center for further treatment.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with law enforcement. Authorities have found no evidence of impairment or negligence, and no arrests have been made.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
