A multi-vehicle collision on the Riverside (91) Freeway briefly brought eastbound traffic to a standstill on Wednesday afternoon, April 8, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 2:25 p.m. near the Van Buren Boulevard exit.
Two to three vehicles were involved in the middle lane, scattering debris across all eastbound lanes. The cause of the crash remains unclear.
Riverside Fire Department crews arrived within minutes and treated at least one person at the scene, though no ambulances were requested.
All eastbound lanes were initially shut down, but by 2:35 p.m., the HOV lane was reopened. Within 30 minutes, all but one eastbound lane was gradually reopened.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
