A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing a roadway outside a marked crosswalk in Oceanside on Friday night, April 10, 2026.
According to the Oceanside Police Department, officers responded to the incident around 10 p.m. on Douglas Drive, north of Rainier Way.
Authorities stated that a Honda Civic, traveling northbound with a green traffic signal, struck the pedestrian as he attempted to cross eastbound north of the intersection.
The 57-year-old man suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts by officers.
The 28-year-old driver, a resident of Oceanside, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police stated that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
The driver was evaluated and released pending further investigation.
