A multi-vehicle collision blocked multiple lanes on eastbound State Route 78 in Vista on Thursday morning, April 16, 2026.
The crash was reported shortly before 7:30 a.m. just west of Vista Village Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Traffic was diverted at Melrose Drive while emergency crews worked to clear the roadway. By 8:20 a.m., the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes were reopened.
Authorities advised motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
