A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in San Joaquin County early Thursday morning, April 16, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded at around 4:35 a.m. on Interstate 5 northbound north of French Camp Road.
Reports indicate that the pedestrian, pushing a shopping cart, was in the northbound lanes of I-5, between the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes, north of French Camp Road. A northbound vehicle struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.
CHP officials believe the victim may have been hit by additional vehicles after the initial impact. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released a description of the suspect vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
