A male motorcyclist was killed after a motorcycle vs. vehicle hit-and-run crash in Chula Vista early Saturday morning, April 20, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred at around 3:00 a.m. on Interstate 5.
Reports said that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound near Main Street when he was struck by a vehicle, throwing him off his ride. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, meanwhile, was said to have fled the scene by continuing north but later came back, driving the same vehicle with significant front-end damage. The driver, who remains unnamed, was held for questioning.
No further information has been released as of yet. Authorities are still looking for any possible evidence they may use to determine the factors leading up to the accident.
