Three people were injured after two wrong-way collisions involving a DUI driver in Riverside early Sunday morning, April 28, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at about 2:15 a.m. between the 60 Freeway and the 215 Freeway.
The first collision happened on the 60 Freeway transition road, where a driver heading north in the southbound lanes struck two vehicles.
The wrong-way driver continued to travel on the freeway before colliding head-on with three other vehicles.
Two victims suffered major injuries, while one sustained moderate wounds. All three patients were transported to a hospital.
The suspect fled the scene on foot and was later located along Day Street. The driver was hospitalized with major injuries.
The authorities later arrested the suspect for various charges, such as felony DUI, hit-and-run, and driving on the wrong side of the freeway.
