A 32-year-old man was seriously injured following a pedestrian vs. vehicle crash in North Park, San Diego, on Saturday night, May 4, 2024.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision happened at about 10:00 p.m. at 30th Street and University Avenue.
SDPD said that the pedestrian was crossing University Avenue from west to east when he was struck by a 2018 Toyota Camry going north on 30th Street. The man reportedly used the crosswalk but did so against a red light while the vehicle had a green light.
The collision threw the pedestrian to the ground. He sustained an open fracture on his right leg and was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital for treatment.
Police said that the DUI was not a factor in the incident. It is still unknown what caused the crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
