Two people were hospitalized with moderate to major injuries following a three-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck rollover on Interstate 5 near Hilltop Drive in Redding on Tuesday night, May 6, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the male driver of a Cadillac SUV traveled down the embankment at the Hilltop Drive overcrossing and onto I-5. The SUV then collided with a semi-truck pulling a tanker trailer, causing the big rig to overturn onto its side.
Authorities stated that a third vehicle sideswiped the semi-truck as the crash unfolded. Traffic was moving slowly on the left shoulder of I-5 while emergency crews worked at the scene.
The Redding Police Department said the driver of the Cadillac is under investigation for possibly driving under the influence.
The crash remains under investigation.
