[05-09-2024] Rider Killed, Driver Injured Following Motorcycle Vs. Vehicle Head-On Collision in French ValleyA rider was killed while a driver was injured following a motorcycle vs. vehicle collision in French Valley, Riverside County, on Thursday evening, May 9, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash occurred just before 6:30 p.m. around the area of Benton Road and Washington Street.

Officers said that a Ford Ranger driven by a woman from Hemet suddenly veered into the front of an oncoming Yamaha motorcycle, resulting in a violent head-on crash. 

The impact of the accident reportedly threw the motorcyclist, later identified as a 24-year-old man from Murrieta, onto Washington Street. He was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries at the facility.

Meanwhile, the Ford driver sustained minor injuries and was also transported to the hospital for evaluation. The driver may potentially face various charges as a result of the deadly collision.

CHP said that driver impairment is not considered a factor in the accident. The authorities are still gathering all the evidence they can find to pinpoint the cause of the incident.
