[05-14-2024] One Person Killed, Another Critically Injured After Two-Vehicle Crash Along I-280 Near Redwood CityOne person was killed, while another was critically injured after a two-vehicle crash near Redwood City on Tuesday night, May 14, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the traffic collision happened at around 10:00 p.m. on southbound Interstate 280 near the Edgewood Road offramp.

CHP said that a Hyundai Accent and a pickup truck crashed into each other on the southbound lanes of I-280. Upon arrival, officers found both drivers lying on the roadway after being ejected from their respective vehicles. How they struck one another and who is to blame remains unclear.

One of the drivers suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other survived with critical injuries. The surviving driver was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care. There is no word yet on which driver died, along with the identities of the people involved.

The southbound lanes of I-280 were blocked off momentarily as the authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
