[05-15-2026] San Diego County, CA – Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in Midway District

A 37-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries following a hit-and-run crash in San Diego’s Midway District early Friday morning, May 15, 2026.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. near the intersection of Camino del Rio West and Kurtz Street.

Authorities stated that the pedestrian was walking west near the south crosswalk when a vehicle traveling southbound on Camino del Rio West struck him while passing through the intersection. The driver fled the scene following the collision.

Emergency crews transported the victim to a hospital, where he was treated for a fractured pelvis and a brain bleed. Officials described his injuries as life-threatening.

Police have not released a description of the vehicle or driver involved.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
