[05-17-2026] Sacramento County, CA – Two Teens Killed, Three Critically Injured in Crash on Scott Rd. in Sloughhouse

Two teenage girls were killed, and three other teenage girls were critically injured following a crash in Sloughhouse, Sacramento County, early Sunday morning, May 17, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 12:29 a.m. on Scott Road north of Latrobe Road.

Authorities stated that a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old girl crashed into a tree before catching fire. The 16-year-old driver and a 14-year-old front passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames after the collision. Before emergency crews arrived, passing motorists stopped and helped remove the three rear-seat passengers from the burning vehicle after first responders were alerted through an iPhone crash notification.

The injured passengers, identified as two 16-year-old girls and one 15-year-old girl, were transported to separate hospitals for treatment. One was taken to UC Davis Medical Center, another to Mercy San Juan Medical Center, and the third to Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento.

CHP investigators reported that speed was a factor in the crash.  It has not yet been determined whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
